ZTE Axon 20 5G: First under-display camera

ZTE announced its new Axon 20 on September 01 and released it 9 days later on September 10. This is the world’s first community available phone that features an under-display selfie camera. This incredible ZTE phone comes in 4 colors: Black, Gold, Blue, Purple. The lowest price we could find for this phone at the moment is $405.

Design

The first thing you notice when you grab this phone is a really big display. At 6.9-inch this phone is really hard to hold in hand, but it feels oddly light for its size. The top of the phone has that futuristic look because of its hidden camera. On the other hand, the bottom looks a few years out of date because of its thick chin. On the back, you’ll see some large Axon 5G and ZTE branding, plus a rectangular camera block.

Specifications

Display

The new ZTE flagship has a 6.92-inch OLED Display, with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. This incredible display features a 90HZ refresh rate. It has a 388PPI pixel density and 84.8% screen-to-body ratio. Be careful with this phone because this phone’s display doesn’t feature any kind of protection.

Camera

ZTE Axon 20 has a quad-camera setup on it’s back: 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth camera. Those cameras feature Dual-LED flash, HDR, and panorama mode. It can shoot 4k videos at 30/60fps. On the front, there is a single 32MP under display selfie camera. The selfie camera itself features an HDR mode. It can shoot 1080p videos at 30 fps.

Configuration

ZTE Axon 20 is powered by well built Snapdragon 765G chipset, which is the best chipset in the mid-class. This powerful chipset is paired with Adreno 620 GPU which will provide some great graphics effects. It is well equipped with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. About the storage, you have two options that you can choose from you can go with either 128GB or 256GB. Don’t worry about the storage since it’s expandable through a micro SD card.

Battery capacity

One of the better things about this phone is the battery. It has a sizeable 4220 mAh Li-Po battery, combined with a super energy-efficient chipset this battery will last you around 2 days. It supports 30W fast charging, that means you can recharge your battery from 0-60% in only 30mins according to ZTE.

Unboxing ZTE Axon 20

New ZTE comes inside a glossy clear white box. Besides the phone, inside there is a charger with the USB-A to USB-C cable that you can use for data transfer. As always ZTE packed some extras, there is a clear silicone case and a 3.5mm to USB-C dongle since this phone doesn’t support headphone jack.

With all that said, according to AnTuTu score leaks the new ZTE Axon 20 has a score of around 330k which is better than 88% of the phones available on the market.
