Samsung launched new incredible smartphones at its Galaxy Unpacked event on February 11 this year. The line up includes the S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra — starting at $999, $1,199 and $1,399. A new addition which many see as the Galaxy Fold 2.0 is the new Samsung Galaxy Z flip. Its the next iteration of Samsung’s folding phones. It starts at $1,380.
These phones launched with the new version of Samsung’s Mobile software, OneUI 2.0. The new software experience comes with new sleek features that make the devices a breeze to use.
The big news is that the software is coming to previous phones in Samsung’s flagship lineup including last year’s Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series but also for the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 series. The news is according to a report from XDA Developers that cite a post from a Samsung community moderator on Samsung’s Korean community portal confirming the news.
Samsung has not revealed a timeline for the One UI 2.1 rollout, but it’s safe to assume that the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 device will get the update before the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 devices.
Built on top of Android 10, the software features like the addition of Google’s navigation buttons and the chance to switch to anyone that feels most favorable to the user. It also sports a camera UI redesign, Screen Zoom, Samsung Quick Share and the aforementioned Spotify support in the Clock app.
The Software update won’t bring 120Hz refresh to older devices because of the lack of hardware capabilities in the older models.
Samsung’s newly launched flagships are causing a frenzy amongst reviewers with many of them giving positive feedback about the phone’s build, software, and camera. Some remarkable features of the phones include 100x Space Zoom camera on the S20 Ultra, the 108MP primary shooter with Nona Binning, and up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 / Note 10 Plus has started getting One Ui 2.0 Beta based on Android 10 in India on the 11 of August 2019 and support for the Samsung Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10 Plus came on the 17 of December last year
It is great to see Samsung rolling out software updates right back to Note 9 and S9 lines. Even better would have been updated for the S8 and Note 8 as these are still very capable phones even for 2020.
