Finally, after months of waiting, Samsung announces its new premium high-end model: the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, along with its younger brothers S20 and S20 Plus. It was presented at the Galaxy Unpacked event, and it hasn´t disappointed everyone who had trust in Samsung. It´s so powerful that we can say that there are practically two phones in one.
If the new releases of S20 and S20 Plus already include a great capacity and quality of options, with the S20 Ultra we can say that Samsung directly challenges the iPhone on its own ground.
Weighing approximately a quarter of a kilo, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is the largest and heaviest phone on the market today. This weight is justified by its huge and beautiful 6.9-inch screen, with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 (Quad HD+), HDR10+ support and an aspect ratio of 20:9. Of course, the screen includes the characteristic curve of Samsung Edge.
As if this weren´t enough, the S20 Ultra is equally powerful from behind: a huge module that houses a total of four cameras: a “normal” angular camera with a huge 108 MP sensor; an ultra-wide 120 degree camera with a 12 MP sensor; and a 48 MP telephoto camera, which provides us with a zoom of up to x4. Samsung uses the Pixel Binning technique to join 9 pixels in one, providing higher quality.
Finally, the fourth camera serves as a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, although Samsung prefers to call it “DepthVision camera”, which detects depth and is very useful for Augmented Reality apps, as well as improving the portrait mode (Live Focus) , scanning the sizes and edges of physical objects with great precision.
The front camera, like its younger brothers, comes with a quality of 10 MP, and with the button located at the top center point of the screen. In addition, as if all this were not enough, the S20 Ultra also records video at 8K.
The S20 Ultra will come only in two colors: cosmic gray and cosmic black. Samsung has released two options to the market, one with 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage (for a small price of 1,399 dollars), while the most luxurious option comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, for a price of 1,599 dollars. Perfect for phone gaming. Both models can be expanded using an SD card of up to a TB.
For America, the S20 Ultra will include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, the most modern and recent in that line of processors, with eight cores operating at 2.84 GHz, in addition to support for both 5G networks both NSA and SA.
Autonomy is also a very important factor in a telephone. The battery of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is nothing less than 5000 mAh (worthy of a laptop model), which can be quickly charged by 45 W, the fastest charging mode that Samsung has implemented. However, you will have to buy the super-fast charger separately, as the smartphone case has a 25 W plug by default.
When it comes to software, the Galaxy S20 Ultra will include OneUI 2 already ready and fresh from the oven, just like its younger brothers. OneUI 2 is Samsung´s native interface for its models, built on Android 10, further simplifying the use of all its included features, among which we have facial recognition and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
In addition to the year of warranty offered by Samsung, the S20 is a waterproof model with an IP68 qualification, safe from any pool or unfortunate slip.

The first thing you’ll notice in a side-by-side comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S20 is the massive rear camera assembly – this is the first time Samsung has shipped a device with a 4 sensor camera module. Rumor has it, this camera assembly is n order of magnitude greater than that if the preseason – Galaxy S10. It’s not just the camera, the ship set, display Corning gorilla glass has all had an upgrade, as a result will notice a much faster device, better display clarity with Samsung’s new QuadHD OLED Display. The device is constructed if glass and a stainless steel mid frame, like the Samsung S10, if you drop this think on the street, it’s probably going to crack.
If you have the budget to upgrade then this by far the best android to upgrade too. With 100x optic zoom this camera will blow you away, it’s leaps and bounds ahead of last years previously powerful Samsung Galaxy S10. Huawei Mate 30 Pro is another high end super powerful android device which must be considered too. Due to the trade war between China and The USA, Mate 30 pro will not ship with android software, instead Huawei’s proprietary ‘EMU10’ will be the replacement operating system.
