Release date & price

Samsung is without a doubt one of the leading smartphone manufacturers and other electronic components globally. Their Samsung Galaxy lineup is one of the best phones both in terms of hardware and software. Recently Samsung got three new smartphones in their Galaxy A lineup: A52, A72, and A52 5G. They were all announced back on March 17 at Samsung’s open conference. Samsung first released A52 5G on March 19 and then a week later A52 and A72. The basic A52 and A72 are priced at $370/$450, while the Galaxy A52 5G starts at $600.

Unboxing

All representatives of the new Galaxy A series are packed pretty much the same. They all come in a clear white box with model specified on the box. Inside there besides the phone, you will only find a charger brick and USB-A to USB-C cable. Samsung really kept it simple and without some extras, but that’s what A lineup was always.

Color options

The whole new Galaxy A series comes in 4 awesome color variants: Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Blue. We can confirm that these color options look even more Awesome in person. If you ask us the best are Violet and Blue since they get that vibrant color vibe.

Specifications

Display

Samsung Galaxy A52 has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display itself supports a 90HZ refresh rate, here is the only difference between 5G and basic A52 when it comes to screens since the 5G version comes with a 120HZ refresh rate. Both A52 and A52 5G screens are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. On the other hand, A72 comes with a slightly bigger 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, having the same screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio, 90HZ refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Camera

A52 is equipped with a quad-camera setup on the back: 64MP main camera with PDAF and OIS, 12MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP macro, and 5MP depth camera. As always Galaxy A72 has a slightly better quad-camera setup on the back: same 64 MP main camera, 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 12Mp ultra-wide, and 5MP macro camera. Both A52 and A72 support 4k videos shooting at 30 frames per second. On the front, all of them are equipped with a single 32MP selfie camera. This far-fetched selfie camera features an HDR and can shoot 4k videos at 30 fps.

Configuration

Galaxy A52 and A72 are both powered by Snapdragon 720G, one of the fastest chipsets mid-range has to offer. They both come with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Storage shouldn’t be a problem since it’s expandable through a micro SD slot. On the other hand, Galaxy A52 5G comes with a slightly better 750G chipset. It also comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. All of the phones should be more than capable of everyday power but don’t expect some heavy gaming or something remember these are mid-range devices.

Battery

The whole new Galaxy A lineup comes with huge batteries, A52 (4500mAh) and A72 (5000mAh). This sizeable battery capacity should keep your phone powered at least a whole day of heavy usage. They all feature a 25W fast charging, which means that they recharge from 0%-100% in around an hour.

Performance

AnTuTu Benchmark is the best way to define how powerful a telephone is. It gives your phone a numerical score based on its specifications. People use it for comparing your device’s speed and performance with other cell phones on the market. According to pieces of information from AnTuTu Benchmark, Both Samsung Galaxy A52 and A72 got a score of around 285k, which is better than 83% of smartphones currently available. On the other hand, A52 5G got a score of 330k, which is better than 86% of the smartphone available. We can see that there is a significant performance boost that you get buying the A52 5G rather than A52/A72.

Is it worth it?

There are cheaper phones that will offer the same/better raw specifications, but smartphones are a lot more than that. Samsung’s new A lineup has a great price/quality ratio. You get good raw specs covered up with a great design, cameras, and an excellent screen. These smartphones should cover day-to-day usage without any problems for at least 3 years from now. So yeah you should buy A52/A52 5G/A72 as your new smartphone device.
