Realme is an offshoot of the Chinese brand Oppo and aims to provide budget smartphones for the “young people around the world.” It is led by former Oppo Global VP Sky Li and was launched in May 2018. Realme released Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro on September 24, 2019. Realme X2 comes in 3 color variants: Pearl White, Pearl Blue, Pearl Green. While the Pro version comes in 4 color variants: Lunar White, Neptune Blue, Red Master Edition, and Gray Master Edition. Realme X2 currently starts at $204 while the Pro version starts at about $320.

Display

Realme X2 comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 and aspect ratio 19.5:9. It has great viewing angles, the pixel density of 403PPI, and 84.2% screen-to-body ratio. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. On the other hand, X2 Pro comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It has great viewing angles, pixel density of 402 PPI, and 84.9% screen-to-body ratio. It has a 90Hz refresh rate and the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Camera

Realme X2 has a quad rear camera system. It has a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP depth camera, and 2MP macro camera. X2 can shoot videos on 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 30/60/120 fps, and 720p at 960fps for some great slow-motions. It also has a 32MP selfie camera that will capture some great selfies. The selfie camera can record videos at 1080p@30fps.

X2 Pro also has a quad rear camera system. Same 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 13MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and 2MP depth camera. It can also record videos on 4K at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60/120 fps, and 720p at 960fps. It has a 16MP selfie camera that can record videos at 1080p at 30fps.

Realme X2 has a Snapdragon 730G chipset, which is a great mid-class chipset. It will handle both gaming and everyday usage easily. X2 has an Adreno 618 GPU, which is great for graphical effects. It comes in 5 variants: 4GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 128GB storage, 8GB RAM / 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM / 256GB of storage. All of them will handle multitasking easily. Storage won’t be a problem since it is expandable through the SD card.

On the other hand, Realme X2 Pro has a Snapdragon 855+ chipset, which is one of the best chipsets. It will handle both gaming and everyday usage easily. X2 Pro has an Adreno 640 GPU, which is great for graphical effects. It comes in 3 variants: 6GB RAM / 64GB storage, 8GB RAM / 128GB storage, 12GB RAM / 256GB storage. All of them will handle multitasking easily. Storage isn’t expandable through SD card.

Battery

Realme X2 comes with a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery, which will provide more than a day of usage. It has a 30W fast charging technology, so it should recharge its battery in less than an hour. It does not support wireless charging. X2 Pro also has a 4000 mAh Li-Po battery, which should provide more than a day of usage. On the other hand, it has a 50W fast charging technology, which should recharge the battery from 0-100 in 35 min. It also doesn’t support wireless charging.

AnTuTu is a Benchmark app for android users. It gives your device an overall numerical score as well as an overall score for each test it performs. It’s useful for comparing your device’s speed and performance with other options on the market.

According to AnTuTu scores, Realme X2 got a score of 257443 points, while the Pro version got a score of around 500k. So it’s obvious that the X2 Pro is a lot stronger, mainly because of the better chipset.

Which one to buy?

Realme X2 and X2 Pro are two really good and affordable phones. Both of them delivers excellent gaming hardware, great AMOLED screen, camera performance, very good battery, and fast charging. Pro version is better but also more expensive. So if you want the best performance buy Realme X2 Pro and if you want to save some money Realme X2 is a great budget phone.
