Realme is an offshoot of the Chinese brand Oppo and aims to provide budget smartphones for the “young people around the world.” It is led by former Oppo Global VP Sky Li and was launched in May 2018. Recently they released new Realme 8 series phones that are better than ever. Realme 8 comes in 2 color variants: Cyber Silver and Cyber Black. While the Pro version comes in 4 color variants: Infinite Blue, Infinite Black, Punk Black, and Illuminating Yellow. Realme 8 currently starts at around $200 while the Pro version starts at about $250.

Specifications

Display

Realme 8 series come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, having a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 and an aspect ratio of 20:9. It has great viewing angles, a pixel density of 411PPI, and an 83.3% screen-to-body ratio. The screen features an always-on function.

Camera

Realme 8 has a quad camera setup on the back that features:a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP depth camera, and 2MP macro camera. This incredible camera system can shoot videos on 4K at 30fps, 1080p at 30/60/120 fps, and 720p at 960fps for some great slow-motions. It also has a 16MP selfie camera that will capture some great selfies. The selfie camera can record videos at 1080p@120fps.

Realme 8 Pro also has a quad rear camera system. But the difference is in main camera, the pro version comes with 108MP main camera shooter rest of them are the same as on the base model. It can also record videos on 4K at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60/120 fps, and 720p at 960fps. On the front, they have the same 16MP selfie camera.

Configuration

Realme 8 is powered by Mediatek Helio G95 chipset, which is a good mid-class chipset. It will handle both gaming and everyday usage. It has a Mali-G76 GPU. When it comes to RAM you get either 4GB/6GB/8GB of RAM, and you have only one storage option and that is 128GB. We reccomend you to get atleast 6GB of RAM since 4GB won’t handle multitasking good enough. Storage won’t be a problem since it is expandable through the SD card.

On the other hand, the Realme 8 Pro has a Snapdragon 720G chipset, which is a lot better mid-range chipset than the one in Realme 8. It will handle both gaming and everyday usage easily. It has an Adreno 618 GPU, which is great for graphical effects. It comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and again only one storage option and that is 128GB. Storage is also expandable through SD card.

Battery

Realme 8 comes with a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery, which should provide more than a day of usage. It has a 30W fast charging technology, so it should recharge its battery in around an hour. It does not support wireless charging. Surprisingly, the Pro model comes with a slightly smaller 4500 mAh Li-Po battery, which should provide more than a day of usage. On the other hand, it has a 50W fast charging technology, which should recharge the battery from 0-100 in 47 min. It also doesn’t support wireless charging.
