OnePlus has finally launched its latest phones yet. The launch confirmed most if not all of the rumors and leaks we have been reporting for some time now.

The official live stream on OnePlus’ official youtube channel which ended about 20hrs ago as of the time of writing. The close of the event paved the way to preorders of the products OnePlus demonstrated.

The devices the mobile phone maker showed off are the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro

These phones are brand-defining products for OnePlus, categorizing the company as a flagship mobile phone maker and not a flagship killer anymore.

They bring significant upgrades in terms of hardware and features which come at no small price. The company has, therefore, for itself made a record-breaking smartphone in terms of price.

OnePlus 8 Pro

The OnePlus 8 Pro is what we would recommend you buy if you intend to get a OnePlus device. It very much competes with the wildly expensive Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

If you preorder now, you can take advantage of OnePlus’s Launch Day Bundle. This includes the new Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger and Bullets Wireless Z earbuds, each of which normally carries price tags of $70 and $50, respectively.

One of the best features of the device is the display. The OnePlus flagship carries a 6.78 inches Fluid AMOLED display curved at the sided like that in the OnePlus 7 Pro. The resolution is 3168 x 1440 pixels 513ppi with an aspect ratio of 19.8:9 The display is protected by 3D Corning® Gorilla® Glass

Other specifications of the phone include a Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ 865 SoC with 5G support. The graphics are pushed by an Adreno 650 chip supported by 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. Storage is the very fast grade UFS3.0 at 128GB or 256GB. The battery is 4510 mAh (non-removable) with Warp Charge 30T Fast Charging (5V/6A) and 30W Wireless Charging.

The phone starts at $899 but a launch day preorder will include a free Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger and Bullets Wireless Z earbuds. That’s a total value of $120 right out of the gate, helping to lessen the sting of the OnePlus 8 Pro’s $899 starting price.

The cameras which had always been a weak-point for the previous versions of the OnePlus series (not to say were bad cameras) have finally been upgraded to flagship-grade cameras. These cameras are great and seem to outperform Samsung’s latest flagship phones in some situations.

The phone comes in Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Onyx Black finishes.

The OnePlus 8

The OnePlus 8 is a scaled-down version of the OnePlus 8 Pro. It still retains most of the features that make the Oneplus great with some cuts worth about $100 to make the phone more affordable though it’s not cheap either.

Verizon will sell the OnePlus 8 for $799 starting April 29th, marking the first time that the carrier has directly offered a OnePlus device. Phones from OnePlus have supported Verizon’s network dating back to the OnePlus 6T, and Verizon certified them for “bring your own device” use by allowing customers to pop a SIM card in and get going.

OnePlus will get the full backing from the network giant through their retail presence online and presumably and in stores.

The OnePlus 8 is 5G-ready and supports Verizon’s ultra-fast millimeter wave (mmW) data speeds, which can surpass 1Gbps in some locations.

The regular OnePlus 8 also has a Launch Day Bundle of its own, but it only comes with the Bullets Z Wireless earbuds. That’s not as interesting of a promotion, but it also makes sense seeing as how the phone doesn’t support wireless charging like its more expensive sibling does.

The OnePlus 8 is specked very much like the pro with discrepancies only in the display size and battery coming in at a 6.55 inches Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2400 Pixels 402PPI and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The battery is a 4300 mAh (non-removable) battery.

The OnePlus 8 series is one of the most interesting series OnePlus had made yet. There are interesting conversations to be had about these phones. Stay connected to Mobile tech Guide for out thoughts and reviews of these devices.
