Whether you are selling your watch, or you have some issues with your wearable, that means you will need to reset your watch. Today we will show you how to reset your Apple Watch with or without your iPhone, without knowing your passcode, and how to do a “hard reset” if you are having some issues with your watch.

Soft Reset with iPhone

If you are selling your Apple Watch or giving it away this type of reset is best for you. So if your watch is paired with an iPhone you can do a soft reset in the Watch app.

Make sure that your watch is close to your phone and launch the Watch application. Swipe down and then choose General. Go ahead and swipe all the way to the bottom and tap on Reset. Choose Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings, and tap on Erase All Content and Settings 2 times to confirm it.

Soft Reset without iPhone

In case your watch is not paired with your phone, or you don’t have access to your phone. You can perform a Soft Reset from your Apple Watch directly.

Go to the Settings on your Apple Watch and tap on General. Swipe all the way to the bottom and tap on Reset. Go into the Erase All Content and Settings. If you have a passcode enter it, then swipe down and tap Erase All.

Soft Reset without Apple Watch passcode

There is also a way to reset your Apple Watch even if you forgot your passcode. Follow these few steps to see how to do it.

Put your Apple Watch on its charger, and press and hold the side button as if you were going to power it down. Then do a firm press on the Power Off slider and let go. Tap on Erase all content and settings and the soft reset will begin.

Hard Reset

A Hard Rest completely resets your Apple Watch, but it does not remove your personal data or settings/ And you use the hardware to trigger a hard reset, instead of a software command. You should use a hard reset if your watch starts to misbehave, or if it stops working as it should. Hard resets will help you especially if your watch freezes up completely and does not respond to commands.

In order to do the hard reset, position your Apple Watch so you can easily access both the Digital Crown /Home and Side buttons, and then firmly hold the device like that in your hand. Simultaneously press and hold both buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen turns off and the watch reboots. And that’s it, you did a hard reset.
